THE TRUE STORY IS HERE
WATCH THE BELOW VIDEO
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this website is to reveal “our” version of the truth and the timeline of events regarding the death of an innocent young man due to at least three major systemic county and state failures and ultimately the death of my son, Michael Adams. My son Michael, took the life of a young man who did not deserve to die. My son had multiple serious mental illnesses that were countlessly documented. It is my opinion that the information contained within this website will confirm that neither one of these men needed to lose their life. If the cries for help and the pleading from me, my family and especially Michael himself did not consistently fall onto deaf ears, both young men would be alive today.
Michael died while in the solitary custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. He suspiciously passed away in his sleep. It is my understanding that Michael’s death is currently being investigated by Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
Due to the suspicious death of my son Michael, I hired an expert, board certified, forensic pathologist with both expert medical examiner and hospital pathology experience. This individual brings the absolute best forensic pathology quality control and expert testimony with him. Secondary to the county examiner, this doctor also performed a complete post-mortem examination of my son. We are currently waiting to see what the county examiner brings to light before we bring to light his findings.
My name is Paul Adams. I am the designer and administrator of this website. I am Michael Adams’ father. Nobody knew Michael better than I did. Before we go any further, the public needs to know that myself, my daughter and many other documented common thinking people, begged the Arizona court system and the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADOC) to assist my son regarding his mental health struggles. As well, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office was aware of his SMI issues too.
The information contained in this website is actual discovery from my son’s case. NOTHING is made up or just “some opinion”.
Every single document and abstract picture you see contained within this website is 100% actual fact.
The most important question to as ask yourself as you read through the pages contained within: At what point does the Arizona Department Of Corrections (Man Up) and admit they potentially allowed this hellish tragedy to happen. They must step up and take responsibility…or at least articulate the events and help us understand how their system failed ?
Many of you have been waiting for the proof of what I know. So here it is. And now you too, will know when you read what’s posted here, that the Arizona State Department Of Corrections’ version of the truth (shown) is much different from what we believe really happened.
The media pushed the narrative like they always do, pushing information out to the public without verifying literally anything. Now we have two life’s lost forever. You will not see the media reporting the truth found here. Please feel free to share this website and what we believe to be the correct version of the truth.
Finaly, after reviewing, please leave your comments and thoughts below.
So, Lets get started:
In this document, you will see one of many chilling facts surrounding the case, is that Michael Paul Adams had been designated SMI but was never treated by AZ DOC. They told the media and public that he (Michael) was not SMI, but they have countless documents within their own agency confirming he did. They, themselves documented him as DTO which means (Danger To Others).
Review the document below:

In this nxet news article found on AZ Family’s website, the Arizona Department Of Corrections (AZDOC) says Michael Paul Adams was not a SMI inmate. However, before a federal whistle was blown by Lewis Prison Sargent Ana “Gaby” Contreras regarding the prison cell doors not locking, Michael was housed at Lewis Prison, specifically the Morey Unit which is reserved for mentally ill inmates. Read the article below. Be advised, the whistler blower was found dead of an “alleged” suicide. Yet, she had every reason to live.

Arizona Department Of Corrections (AZDOC) indicated that they provided Michael a ride back to Maricopa County and that he was provided continuity of care. In my opinion, and as you can see by the bus ticket abstract below, this was an incorrect statement. Michael’s father paid for Michael to take a Greyhound bus back home. It is our understanding that the AZDOC released Michael to the streets a little after 3am in the morning on July 2nd, 2019. He had no money, no food, no way home and no mental medication for an unknown specified amount of time.

More Proof: Another document from a nationally recognized organization. This yet again, shows the version of truth that the Arizona Department Of Corrections has provided to the general public, is potentially highly inaccurate. So again, if they did their job, this website would not be here today. More importantly, two families would still be enjoying their loved ones. We believe, there is simply no way for AZDOC to articulate their way out of this.

Hi Paul. First off I want to give my condolences to you and all the family members who lost Michael. I am so very sorry for your loss. I met you and I met Michael once.
I ran away from home when I was 14-15, I was sitting right next to a Safeway in Surprise, that’s where Michael could see that I was alone and that something wasn’t right. He was walking with some of his friends and he approached me to ask me if I was ok, I’m not sure what I told him but he offered for me to hang out and walk with him and his friends.
I eventually told him I was running away from home and he didn’t judge me or make me feel pressured or uncomfortable in any way. He was so nice. I remember he had long hair and was carrying a guitar when he and I met.
It was definitely a memorable time. Though I didn’t say much to him because I was shy, it was like I didn’t really have to, he made me feel comfortable.
You may or may not remember me but Michael offered me a place to sleep that day, which is when I met you.
I was extremely shaken when I saw Michael on the news, I couldn’t believe it. I had such a hard time trying to wrap my head around it that week. Your son was good.
I’m sorry for everything. I cried when I saw his service and I only got to meet him just once.
I can’t imagine the pain and the loss you and your family feels. Rest In Peace.
First of all, thank you for your posts. I also want to let you know that local and national news has painted my son to be a monster from hell. And if his actions were done in cold blood, then I would agree. He took an innocent and wholesome life. As his parent, that in and of itself has been critically difficult to live with. I can not begin to articulate how I feel for the victims family. With the loss of their son, I am quit sure they could care less about what I have to say. But, if they knew, how many nights I lay awake at night and cry tears for them and their family, if they could feel what my heart has felt because of their loss. If they only knew how hard I tried to get my son mental help…they might understand just a little. There are no words to explain the pain of losing your own child. Their son was taken from them because the system failed. And to say it failed is an “understatement”. We have two people taken from this earth because someone was too busy, someone didn’t want to listen or someone simply didn’t care. It’s disgracefully how the state treats people with SMI’s.
Some of the posts and images on this website only tell half the story. I spent countless hours, days, months and years trying to get my son help for his mental illness. He was diagnosed with autism and chronic schizophrenia. You see, his issues did not begin to truly manifest themselves until he was hitting his early 20’s. That’s when we started noticing changes. Those changes started subtle and grew. We had no idea to know what was happening, we just knew something about our son was changing. If I could hold and hug the parents of the one my son killed, I would. I would tell them how hard I tried to prevent this. I would want them to know that there was a time in history when my son would have done anything for anyone. He dedicated his early years of life helping people. He would help people he didn’t even know. With all this said, Let me say…… Approximately 20 percent ( I believe more) of inmates in jails and 15 to 20 percent of inmates in state prisons have a serious mental illness. Based on the total number of inmates, this means that there are approximately 356,000 inmates with serious mental illness in jails and state prisons. These are only numbers that we are aware of. The Jail and Prison systems in the United States have become the largest mentally ill institutions in the world. This should be considered a national crises. People are dying and nobody in politics are in the judicial system cares. My son too, is now dead because every single word, every single paper I signed, every single time I spoke in a court room, well it all fell on def ears. And here we are. Now I cry for their son, I cry for my son. I feel like I didn’t do enough. But yet, there are little to no resources to rely on.
So now, I am looking to start an organization that will be a voice for mentally ill, that will develop a functional plan to help with resources and to advocate change in the courts across the nation to make a change. But, I can’t do it alone. Once I get the paperwork filed, and the organization if ready to grow, I will be reaching out for people to help. We’ll need a lot of input and feedback in order to do this right. Soon, I will have a sign-up page on this website to allow those interested in truly helping, signup. As the organization starts to shift gears, me or my team will start reaching out.
With much love to you and all who have taken the time to read these posts.
Paul~
Is it possible to team up with the family of the other young man that was killed, and create a joint / class action suit holding them responsible for both deaths because precautions, testing, medical appointments at a judiciary level could have been implemented and far as I understand from reading about this, were not. A complete failure of ownership and a sluffing off of ‘mental health’ in the judicial systems needs to stop – lives and families are being ruined unnecessarily but turning the other cheek because the system is broken ( a favorite line everyone likes to say ), however, the system does not need to be as broken as it is. Steps and measures CAN be taken at the first introduction to courts or judiciary systems of mental health status individuals and CAN be laid out/implemented as ordered by a judge. Medical testing, evaluations, mental health courts, application of med compliance, and many things can be, and should be – simply ‘ordered’ in legal steps/guidelines established and laid out given to judges and followed up on. Schizophrenia is not a ‘choice disease’ that the individual asks for and the ramifications of not having steps and procedures in place for SZ people and forcing their families to be the ‘everything’ as in the family inhouse medical team, the family is the mentors, the family is the shelters, the family is the councilors, the family is the caregivers and – ‘unpaid and untrained’ is truly ludicrous and devastating when things spiral beyond a average families control.
I want to see a legal catchbasin put in place in the future by judicial systems for the FIRST time a SZ individuaul (diagnosed or suspected) comes up in a legal setting giving precise steps and direction court ordered. Also anyone SZ sitting in jails should be ‘reassessed’ to ensure the steps are applied as well. The steps would be any mental health assessments to be done that were not done, med compliance in jail or not, release steps – when someone is released there needs to be SZ halfway houses, places to go to integrate back into the community and so on…
I knew Michael from birth. Growing up, he had a heart of gold. He was a natural peace maker and truly cared for his fellow man. I cant remember a time where he ever chose violence as an answer for anything. During his teenage years he worked for me, always doing a great job at his assigned tasks. He may have been a little bit slower than some, but it was due to his amazing attention to detail. Either way, he always got his tasks done…and done well.
I could go on for hours about the Michael I knew, but I’ll sum it up by saying he had a kinder soul than anyone I ever met in my life.
The tragedy that has unfolded has left myself and everyone who ever knew him speechless to say the least. Knowing Michael the way I have his entire life, I can say I truly believe it was more avoidable and more could have been done.
To whom it may concern, please do not give up the fight to bring those responsible to light in the tragedy of both losses of life. It seems so many avoidable events lead to this and answers must be found.
Michael Paul Adams, I will always love you and I miss you everyday.
Your Uncle Phil.
After starting this website on April 24th, 2021 (The day of my sons funeral), I did not expect to get this much public input. My original goal was to create this website for Michael’s friends and family to post memories, stories and photos. About an hour after I returned home from my son’s funeral, I began working on this site. I sat for what seemed like about three days straight. With no sleep and literally taking no breaks except to use the restroom and eat. The longer I worked on this site the more it transitioned into a place I wanted people to not only leave storied and memories, it also became a place to show exactly how the state of Arizona treats their mentally ill inmates. I hope you have read what I have posted so far and you be the judge as to if you felt Michael Paul Adams and the community was served right by the state. I would have been OK with my son remaining in custody if AZDOC would have helped in heal by providing mental health services to him. I believe almost everyone has the right to rehabilitate from the wrongs they’ve done and correct their life without judgement. Not so in my son, Michael’s case….and not so for so many thousands more across America. I have nothing further to say at this time.
